KM - Southwest Corridor Park
The Southwest Corridor Park is an existing functioning public park, regional to Boston, Roxbury and Forrest Hills. The park is a result of a dropped expressway plan, continuing I-95 from Route 128 to downtown Boston. Currently the park flanks the Orange Line and Commuter rail, it also embodies a variety of programs ranging from community gardens to sports facilities. The 5-mile long park crosses through several distinct neighborhoods potentially stitching together contrasting social classes, depending on how this potential is developed this can both act as a benefit or an unnatural phenomenon posing social risk. This project, guided by Architect David Adjaye, explores the development of an art community anchor building, grounding the park and transforming the regional neighborhoods.
